Greetings!
as it turns out, the 16th actually works better
for me as well, as
we'll be in Seattle on the weekend of the 9th.
also, if anything, having some of the PLUG folks
around can only be
a good thing, as people may trickle in from that event to work on
bugs with us!
if there's no serious objections to the 16th,
let's "call it" sooner
than later, so we can start publicizing the event far enough in
advance to get maximum attendance and participation.
can i also suggest that we get a list of the
preparatory
instructions (packages to install, basic work-flow, etc) collected
early so that we can refer to them in the announcements, and
hopefully have people come as prepared as possible? i know steve and
kees both have some good wiki links for this.
really looking forward to this, folks!
Vagrant has confirmed for the 16th, 11am to 6pm, at Free Geek.
Initial wiki page is here:
http://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2012/12/us/Portland
This is totally cribbed from the wiki page from /last/ December's BSP, so
there are already some prep instructions here; but please do extend it with
links to things that are missing.
FWIW, I've spent a lot of time at these events lately on orientation /
teaching, and this time I'm keen to be able to spend my time banging on RC
bugs personally. I'm happy to do a brief (30 min or less) introduction at
the beginning, but after that plan to go to my happy hacking place; so if
others think more instruction is needed/wanted, it would be good to figure
out a plan for this, or else target this at "experienced" packagers (i.e.,
people who've been at at least one BSP previously).
I know the basics of packaging which I learned from you at our last BSP so
I feel confident that I will not need an intro. I could probably help
others who have little to no experience packaging.
I know that this is a BSP but considering the attendance I might suggest
those who are interested to consider incorporating Debian RC Bug Fixes into
Ubuntu?
Perhaps if anyone is interested we could also go through Ubuntu bugs and
handle patches needing forwarding to Debian.
