Hello Debian Portland Social Group,
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ryan and
I'm been a
long time fan of Debian and looking to make friends and get involved
in the community. I'm mostly just a computer/Linux hobbyist and was
hoping to meet and hang-out with like minded individuals to
brainstorm and collaborate on ideas for cool things to do with
computers.
I started toying with Debian back at 3.0 until I got
to distracted
with my videogame/Steam addiction around the release of KDE 4. I am
getting my feet wet again and getting ready to setup a home server
for media streaming + backups and debating on throwing in a
webserver and perhaps a PBX just for fun.
Nice to meet you all,
Welcome! It's always nice to hear from another Debianer here in Portland.
I guess you've seen from the mailing list that we've got an event organized
for this weekend to squash some release-critical bugs for the upcoming
wheezy release. Let me say explicitly that we'd be happy to have you join
us if you're free on Sunday.
Aside from the occasional bug squashing party, we also try to get together
on a pseudo-monthly basis for beer and commiseration about how unfair it is
that computers don't do what we tell them to. ;)
Hope to see you around!
